Melissa is from Boston and Byron is from Los Angeles. They are both attorneys. They met at a Latino law school student conference hosted in Boston by Melissa's Law School in 2016. For Byron, it was respectful love at first sight because he assumed Melissa was already taken, given her unrelenting beauty and unmatched sophistication (legit Byron's words). Melissa was indeed taken.


During a social event at a club, Melissa respectfully asked Byron to dance bachata (she loves to dance). Byron thought Melissa was messing with him but agreed. They both danced together and became friends.


It was always Melissa's dream to live in sunny LA. In 2017, she made her dream come true by moving to LA on her own. Byron moved to Washington, DC for a job. They both remained friends for four years. Melissa and Byron started to like each other after Melissa attended Byron's cousin's birthday party in Los Angeles.


They made their relationship official on February 8, 2020, after visiting Melissa's family in Boston. Melissa and Byron accidentally moved in together during COVID-19. They have now been together for over four years. In 2022, they welcomed their first fur child Dr. Alfred Winston.
